1. What do you like most about teaching at Riverside Prep? I love that I know every kid that walks by. I know everyone's name and I love how it feels like a big family. Even ones who've gone on to high school or graduated, some of them still call me by my maiden name, Pittman, because that's what they know me as because I've known them for so long.
2. What all have you taught at Riverside Prep? When I started off I was teaching math and science, and then I just did math and math lab. I've also coached softball at the high school for seven or eight years, and I've coached cross country and volleyball at the middle school.
3. Favorite moment in teaching? My first year at Riverside Prep I took the softball team to a UCLA game and we stopped and had lunch at the Santa Monica Pier. It was the first time a lot of my seniors had seen a college and it had a huge impact because I found out it was also the first time that a few of my girls had ever been to the beach. It was just a huge, huge day for them to see the next level of education at UCLA, they got to see softball at the next level and then to experience something outside of the High Desert and to see and touch sand at the beach for the first time, it was just a great feeling.

4. What does it mean to be the first Middle School Teacher of the Month? It's amazing, it's a total honor. I really like that we're doing this and I think we have a lot of great middle school teachers who are going be in line for this.
