1. How long have you been teaching at Riverside Prep and what brought you here? This is my second year at Riverside Prep. I'm from San Diego originally, but my husband was offered a promotion at his job to move up here and I applied and haven't looked back!
2. What got you into teaching? I love learning and I had some really great teachers growing up that changed my perspective on education. I believe all students deserve a quality education and I thought I could help provide that. I started teaching adult learners in areas of career guidance, but decided my love for U.S. History and political science would be better used in a secondary setting.
3. What do you like most about working at Riverside Prep? I love the daily entertainment provided by the middle school students and the constant challenge of trying to engage my students. I also like the opportunities that a small district like this provides to grow and learn.
4. What do you like about teaching middle school students? The challenge of getting them to focus and then finally seeing them understand and become interested in history. Having them connect lessons to real-life situations is really cool. I love when they use their brains.
5. Favorite moment in teaching? The lightbulb. Most teachers will know when you see your students eyes light up because they learned something they were struggling to understand. It is a fantastic moment.

6. What does it mean to be selected as the Middle School Teacher of the Month? It means a lot to be recognized and know that your hard work is noticed. I love teaching and do the job for the kids, but it's cool to be appreciated.
