Coronavirus Disease Update (COVID-19)

Updated March 16, 2020

The Oro Grande School District is carefully monitoring the situation, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updates and guidelines, and working with San Bernardino County Public Health to keep updated on this ever-changing situation. We have created this information page to provide access to resources and information about COVID-19, COVID-19 prevention and spread, and the most up-to date COVID-19 statistics.

Preventing the spread of the virus is key

Standard precautions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as cold and flu apply to COVID-19

    • Wash your hands frequently, at least 20 seconds with soap and water
    • Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when washing soap and water are not available
    • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
    • Stay home when you feel sick
    • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze with a tissue, then promptly throw the tissue in trash
    • Clean and disinfect surfaces of frequently touched objects
    • Get vaccinated every year for the flu

Send home guidelines to prevent spread of illness

    • Fever >100.4F – Students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing agents (Tylenol, Motrin, etc.) to return to school
    • Shortness of breath, cough, respiratory difficulties

    Guidelines for schools

    • Students/staff do not need to wear masks to protect themselves. Masks are not an effective method to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Washing hands remains the best defense.
    • Student health information, including infectious disease, should not be shared with other students and staff as per FERPA
    • Suspected cases will be shared by OGSD Health Services with the San Bernardino County Public Health Department for investigation
